The Secretariat supports these bodies and coordinates and implements the PREZODE initiative&#8217;s daily activities.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-74044c5595c888576363d1273b45349d\" style=\"color:#2894bf\">Aims and Activities<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The General Assembly (GA) is the body in charge of reviewing and adopting the orientations and deliverables prepared by the Steering Committee (SC).<br>In particular, it will:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Adopt the governance and its terms of reference.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Adopt the Strategic Agenda.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Adopt annual work plans and budgets.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Adopt other strategic orientations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Review the progress of the initiative and provide overall guidance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Accept or exclude members as specified in the Membership section above.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, the GA will have the possibility to propose new initiatives or complementary activities to be taken up and further developed by the SC.<br>Finally, the GA will be in charge of electing its President and Vice President.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-eea2c8b135207fa1046d0ae34d1df5a4\" style=\"color:#2894bf\">Composition<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The GA is composed of one representative for each member and is\u00a0chaired by a President and a Vice Pesident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-3e70718a497e2d9c05bb043e0c87e010\" style=\"color:#2894bf\">Roles of the President and Vice President of the GA<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The President of the GA chairs meetings of the GA and is assisted by the Vice President, who may stand in for the President when necessary. They shall:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Advise, on behalf of the GA, the SC and the Secretariat on how the GA decisions should be implemented in between meetings of the GA;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Represent the PREZODE initiative in meetings, in bilateral and multilateral relations;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contribute to the prestige and influence of PREZODE in the international arena;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Facilitate connections to governments, regional and international organizations at the highest levels.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-907bc65ed8fb8e26298491e0443fb00c\" style=\"color:#2894bf\">Election<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The President and Vice President are elected by the members of the GA from among the representatives of the signatory countries for a two-year term. At the end of this term, the Vice President assumes the role of President, and a new Vice President is elected.<br>The President and Vice President of the first GA will be appointed from among the first signatory countries. The Secretariat will then organize the election of the President and Vice President of the next GA within a period of one year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-e4df3912345e3c6e3dc348a0fff9066c\" style=\"color:#2894bf\">Meetings<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The GA meets at least once a year but may also organize extraordinary meetings, either in person or virtually, convened by the Secretariat.<br>The annual meeting of the GA may be hosted by the country that holds the presidency or vice presidency, or by any member country that is willing to do so.<br>Members of the GA may propose items for the agenda and for voting. The draft agenda for the GA meeting will be circulated in advance, and the Secretariat will provide the meeting documentation afterward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-48087cf745558bc1d7a987417304b7d4\" style=\"color:#2894bf\">Procedure and voting rights<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Each member of the GA has\u00a0one vote. All decisions shall be made by consensus wherever possible.
